INTRODUZIONE
Files about audio and game's sounds are placed in the folder \Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\audio, divided in two subfolder:
Config, that contain files about configuration and other data, and
Sfx that contain audio files (total about 6,00GB).
In this tutorial will be listed all components of Sfx's folder. A guide about mod audio files internal of game, is in developement.
SFX FOLDER
In the folder
Sfx there are 36 archives in .rpf format.
Here are analyzed all files sorted on archive.
ambient_streams.rpf : contains audio files of some local, as burger shot, strip club and more.
cutscenes.rpf : they are audio files about dubbing videos of cutscenes.
GENERAL.rpf : files about your phone's sounds.
gps.rpf : Files about game's menu, intro, and final tune of missions and other.
LOADING.rpf : audio files about loadings, multyplayer countdown, and final song about credits of game and more.
POLICE_SCANNER.rpf : audio files about police's scanner, for communications between order force.
radio_xx(suffix).rpf : these are 23 files about radio stations and advertising various. For more details, see next chapter, down of the page.
resident.rpf : audio files maybe the more interesting. It contains various noise and tune of the game, including explosion, weapons, horn, and more.
SCRIPT_AMBIENT.rpf : various ambient sound, including cash registers, car wash, bowling and more.
SCRIPT_MISSION.rpf: audio files related to some missions.
scripted_speech.rpf : audio files related to dialogue during missions or phone.
speech.rpf : audio files related to the dialogues of Niko's girlfriends, the secondary characters, pedestrians and more.
STREAMED_VEHICLES.rpf : audio files relating to vehicle's motor. For the horn, must see resident.rpf .
Radio Files
Below are listed the files related to radio stations in the game, which will include, besides the songs themselves, introductions and dj's speeches of the station. The first of the archives is dedicated only to advertising.
The songs will be recognizable by the file's names that match the song titles. The entire soundtrack, including titles and authors, is available in our
dedicated page.
RADIO_ADVERTS.rpf: contains the commercials spots that can be heard in various radio stations.
radio_afro_beat.rpf: audio files of IF99 International Funk station.
radio_babylon.rpf: audio files of Tuff Going Radio station .
radio_beat_95.rpf: audio files of The Beat 102.7 station .
radio_bobby_konders.rpf: audio files of Massive B Soundsystem 96.9 station.
radio_classical_ambient.rpf: audio files of The Journey station.
radio_dance_mix.rpf: audio files of Electrochoc station.
radio_dance_rock.rpf: audio files of Radio Broker station.
radio_extratracks.rpf: audio files dedicated to your songs.
radio_fusion_fm.rpf: Fusion FM station's audio files.
radio_hardcore.rpf: audio files of LCHC Hardcore Rock station.
RADIO_INDEPENDENCE.rpf: audio files of Radio Indipendence station.
radio_jazz_nation.rpf: audio files of 108.5 Jazz Nation Radio station.
radio_k109_the_studio.rpf: audio files of K-109 The Studio station. radio_lazlow.rpf: audio files of Integrity 2.0 station.
radio_liberty_rock.rpf: audio files of Liberty Rock Radio 97.8 station.
RADIO_NEWS.rpf: audio files of the latest news.
radio_ny_classics.rpf: audio files of 104.1 The Classics station.
radio_plr.rpf: audio files of Public Liberty Radio station.
radio_san_juan_sounds.rpf: audio files of San Juan Sounds station.
radio_the_vibe.rpf: audio files of The Vibe 98.8 station.
radio_vladivostok.rpf: audio files of Vladivostok FM station.
RADIO_WEATHER.rpf: audio files of weather forecasts provided.
radio_wktt.rpf: audio files of KTT Talk Radio station.
Listen an audio file
Required software:
last version of OpenIV, a viewer/editor of gta iv's files.
First is to extract OpenIV files in a folder where you want, like "Open IV" on your desktop. The double-click on "OpenIV.exe" to launch the tool.
If you click on "File", then on "Open Content", the tool will search itself GTA IV folder, loadings automatically required files.
Now go in the directory /pc/audio/sfx as shown in the image.
Now choose the .rpf archive desired, following descriptions explained above and open it by double clicking. In our case we choose the ambient_streams.rpf, to export the mini-game QUB3D's tunes.
Then after selected desired file (in our case QUB3D_LOOP) double-click.
How to export and audio file in .wav format
To export an audio file in .wav format on your pc, you must follow the below chapter to listen an audio file. In oura case we try to export the tune of mini-game QUB3D. When you are listening, you must only drop the .wav icon on your desktop.
Alternative is click on the disk on the right:
then select the directory to save the file.
How to import an audio file in the game
At the moment importing audio files with actually software is impossible, but in the future there will be a possibility and method will be shown in this tutorial.
